We spent our first night in Hotel Pennsylvania, which has clearly seen better days.
The domed metal door looks like an oversize metal sarcophagus. Inside the air conditioner is making a rattling, roaring sound loader than the Boeing I’ve just flown in on. Climbing into bed, the loose headboard flops down over our heads. Everything seems a little faded and I can’t help but comment on the irony that this is my first night in the so-called “New” World…
Moaning aside, the bed was comfy and I had a solid night’s sleep. I feel (prematurely!) that I’ve beaten the jet lag. Penn Station is right across the road and soon we’re choo-chooing to this nation’s capital.. Washington D.C.
